Asian Games Sports

bob外围官网appIn July 1948, during the 14th session of Olympic Games of London Summer Olympic Games 1948, China and Philippine sports professionals wished to retrieve the Far East Games, having had much discussion over the issue with sports professionals from other Asian Countries. Indian IOC representative Guru Dutt Sondhi thought the Far East Games was insufficient to embody the level of Asian sports activities and the spirits of solidarity and coherence, thus proposed to sports leaders of the Asian teams the idea of holding Asian Games for all Asian countries. He visited all Asian athletic team representatives for London Summer Olympic Games, and invited representatives from 13 Asian countries and regions such as Korea, China and Philippines to hold preparatory meetings over the issue of setting up Asian Athletic Federation. The meeting agreed to draft relevant documents and the Charter of Asian Amateur Athletic Federation, and decided to hold the first Asian Games, in New Delhi, the capital of India in February 1949 (owing to the Indian internal issues, the Games was postponed to the year 1951).In February 1949, Asian Athletic Federation representatives held a meeting in New Delhi, and the Asian Amateur Athletic Federation was formally formed and used the name Asian Games Federation. Later in 1981,the name was changed into Olympic Council of Asia.

After World War II, a large number of Asian countries have, one after another, shaken off the colonial rule, regained their independence, and established their social systems. Following the recovery from the pains of war, people's life became more and more stable with each passing day, the sports cause was gradually revitalized as well. The discontinued Olympic Games by war for 12 years was revived eventually. Against this historical settings, sports communities devised one optimistic prospects of founding one unified Asian sports leading organization to invigorate the development of Asian sports cause.
